Kitchen Update

When updating a kitchen, so many elements have to be considered. When working to a budget, what features do you keep? What do you do away with? And of course, how do you keep a connection with the rest of the house, without revamping everything?

The owners of this busy Air Bnb knew what they wanted... a great looking kitchen that didn't require updating the whole building! The existing wooden paneling in the loft areas of the house were staying, and so we incorporated the hardwood fence palings into the island bench, reflecting the rural aesthetic of the 12 acre property. The existing Himalayan Cedar top was refurbished and reshaped.

New, crisp white cabinetry in a silk finish kept the overall feel clean and modern, in a building with many competing elements. The update of appliances allowed the existing black tiles to be kept, creating a bigger budget for a splurge on feature wall tiles.
